In addition to the standard cyan, magenta, yellow, and black Epson XP-810 ink cartridges, the unit also uses a photo black supply for deeper blacks. Support for specialty media like photo paper and even printable CDs and DVDs is a nice touch, however. It still suffers from a fairly small paper capacity, however, at only 100 sheets maximum. The 30-sheet automatic document feeder is a major improvement over the XP-610's flatbed scanner, allowing users to scan and copy stacks of documents very quickly. Users can even crop, rotate, and enlarge images before printing, or make a contact sheet with multiple photos on one page.

Once photos are in the machine's memory, the touchscreen LCD provides features like Auto Photo Correction for PC-free printing. The Epson Connect application can also integrate with mobile devices, providing enhanced features like saving scanned documents. It supports wireless networking, as well as AirPrint and Google Cloud Print for printing and sharing from tablets and smartphones. Like most modern inkjet models on the market, the XP-810 provides multiple ways to be integrated with various devices.

It still offers the same quick ISO speeds of up to 14 pages per minute, and Expression Premium XP-810 printer ink costs are not too expensive for light-duty use. The Epson Expression Premium XP-810 Small-in-One inkjet printer may not be quite as small as the similar XP-610 model, but the addition of an automatic document feeder and larger screen are worth a little extra bulk.
